Call me a conspiracy theorist, but does anyone find it mildly interesting that at the same time Obama is trying to get a health care bill of sorts ram-rodded through at any cost, a "government" panel comes out with a new study that says that women don't need to do self-breast exams or receive routine mammograms until they're 50?

Personally, I think the "government" is starting down a slippery slope of rationing our healthcare.  I'm not saying that the panel is wrong, per se.  I just have my conspiracy theories.

Nobel Peace Prize - Subjectivity at its best

According to the Nobel Peace Prize folks the prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

I suppose we could fit Obama into the last category, as he has been hanging out with the G-20  and the G-8 quite a bit in recent months.

We can't blame him for not facilitating peace in the Middle East.  The best of them have tried to no avail.  Creating peace requires accommodations that the Middle East are not ready for yet.

And I will leave Afghanistan and Iraq to your imagination.  We are still there, whether you agree with the fact that we should be there, we are there.  I think we forget that we are still in Japan and Germany......over 60 years later. 

Did I mention that the nomination deadline for this year's award was February 1, 2009?  Please remind me how long the current President of the United States was in office at that time?

To Reform or Not to Reform

That is the question.  Or maybe it's not a question.  We need to reform our health care system, but how? 

I believe it's something that needs to be implemented over several decades.   Sweeping reforms in a 1,000 page bill are not the way to EFFICIENTLY reform our system.

I don't want to wait 9 weeks to see the doctor.

So our current President and his staff want our help in telling them who is spreading "disinformation" about the health care reform......

I keep hearing rumors about how the proposed legislature calls for "end of life" planning....mandatory abortions....access to bank accounts....rationing of care, etc.

Scary stuff.  I will be doing some research into these things in the next few days to determine the truth.

Security?

I sleep safer at night knowing that Dick Cheney is on the prowl.  He isn't as concerned about his own legacy as he is about the real threats that our borders are threatened with each and every day.  He's lived and breathed national security for 8 years as Vice-President.  Obama casually mentions shutting down Guantonomo after a few days in office.

I can understand why McCain opposed torture, the man lived through some of the worst.  At the same time, we need to come to the table with open eyes and without the bias of an entire party behind us.  We are talking about national security, that's right, our safety, the sanctity of our lives, our freedom of speech, press, and religion.

Terrorists will stop at nothing to destroy our way of life.  We have seen it countless times in Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and other countries when a person straps on a vest of explosives and walks into a crowded place.

So let's open up those memos and give the enemy our techniques so that they can train for them.  Let's go after the lawmakers, the brief writers, and the interrogators for aiding in the discovery of useful information.  Let's release the detainees into America.  Let's say the CIA lies to Congress every day to protect our political reputations.  And let's undo what the previous administration has done to keep this country safe. 

It's not about the administration it's about keeping us safe.  You may get popularity points for doing the reverse of the previous administration, but when it's the reverse, just to be opposite, is it right?

It's about national security, the safety of our nation and everything that it has stood for since 1776.

Teleprompter.....

For 8 years we heard how bad my pal GW was at public speaking.....at least he wasn't as tethered to the teleprompter as BO.

Bird Alarm

Are you catching on to the bird theme?

When I would come home from college Bird would be very excited to see me.  Each morning he would hop down off of his cage and walk into my room.  He'd climb or fly up onto my luggage and wait for me to wake up.  He would softly whistle a sweet tune until I awoke.  Then he would sing loudly.  Once he knew you were awake it was over, no more soft singing.

I have never been good at getting up in the morning.  I do not like to be awakened!  There just isn't a good way to do it.  I can't stand the sound of an alarm clock.  I use a less obnoxious sound on my cell-phone.  The problem is that it's not obnoxious enough.

There was a great clock I saw in Tokyo.  I should have bought it.  It said: Ohayo! Ohayoooo!! Ohayooooo!!! It would get progressively louder and more obnoxious with each "ohayo".

Birdie & Me

Have you seen Marley & Me?  I thought it would be another typical Owen Wilson movie where his hysterical musings seem to never end.  We were pleasantly surprised by this wonderful movie.  I haven't been this sad over a dog since My Dog Skip.  It almost makes me want to get a dog, just to try and get that one in a million dog that has that almost human like quality.  Alas, we will just have to stick with our bird.

Bird has been with me since middle school.  That would make him around 15 years old (plus or minus a few years).  When my parents moved while I was in law school, he came to live with me permanently.  Bird was a welcome companion.  He ran to the edge of the cage (as much as Cockatiels run) to see me off in the morning.  He was always there when I returned home after class.

When my husband, then boyfriend at the time, first met Bird they weren't the best of friends.  Now Bird likes my husband more than me.

And yes, the bird's name is Bird.  More on that later.

To Bow or Not to Bow.....

Let's Play the It's Not My Fault Game!

So, who is to blame for passing a "stimulus" bill that includes quite a bit of pork for items that won't stimulate the economy?

I will leave the answer to your imagination.  What I will say is this: SHAME ON YOU CONGRESS!!!

Shame on you for campaigning on the promise of cutting the fat and then eating way more than your fair share.

Shame on you for allowing a "stimulus" bill to go through Congress that provides money for absolute junk.

Shame on you Obama for WASTING more taxpayer dollars by flying the 1,100 hundred page bill to Colorado to sign it.

See how the "stimulus" money is divided at this great Wall Street Journal site.  You will quickly see how little much of the "stimulus" funds will directly and/or immediately stimulate the economy.

Simply shameful.  How can you sleep at night Congress?  How can you look your constituents in the eye and say that what you voted for will actually stimulate the economy now.  If the state of the economy is as bad as you keep telling us, then why hasn't the sky fallen yet....and if it is that bad why are you spending rather than stimulating? 

Pray like you've never prayed before!

Pray like you've never prayed before that this bill is not signed.  How can someone in good conscious sign a piece of legislation into law that hasn't been examined properly. 

If Obama is so concerned with the environment and helping the economy and reducing spending....why is he flying to Denver to sign something he could sign in the White House....it would be alot cheaper.

Border Patrol

If you've been watching the news lately, you may have heard about Roger Barnett, a rancher in Arizona who has turned over 12,000 illegal immigrants to the Border Patrol since 1998.

These ILLEGAL immigrants vandalized the ranch, killed the rancher's animals, and stole from the rancher.  So it makes perfect sense that the immigrants are now suing the rancher.

This man defended his property and enforced the laws of the United States of America.  He used the threat of guns and big dogs.....SO WHAT!!!  It's called trespassing, you can't do that.

If I tried to immigrate illegally like that to a host of other countries I would expect to be held up at gun point for breaking the laws.

My biggest concern is that we will give ILLEGAL immigrants rights under our Constitution.  If we start down that slippery slope there is no way of knowing how far we will go to protect the interests ILLEGAL aliens.

I don't believe in harming them or denying emergency medical care (which costs the American taxpayer a pretty penny), but I do know it's not right for these ILLEGAL aliens to trespass on private land, leave a mess, and then sue somebody else.

Heck, I'll just say it.  Why can't we as Americans enforce our laws?

Is it just me or is there a standing issue?

Prayer under attack.

"President Obama's version of faith-based initiatives is to remove the faith from initiative," said Staver, who believes Obama has "a completely different view on faith" from what he said during his presidential campaign. 

"He is not the infallible messiah that some thought he would be," Staver said.
